Kenya U20 Women’s team edged out Ethiopia by 2-1 in the World Cup qualifier match played on September 30, 2017, at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Corazon Aquino put the Kenyans in front on the 10 minute mark after a good run from the left flank by Gentrix Shikangwa. Ethiopia would, however, restore parity at the stroke of halftime from the spot when goalkeeper Lilian Awour brought down Mirkat Feleke in the 18-yard box.
Barely five minutes after the restart, Gentrix Shikangwa capitalized on a goalkeeping mishap to head in the winner from close range. Kenya would then dictate proceedings for the better part of the second half, effectively denying Ethiopia any chance of a comeback.
Kenya held Ethiopia to a 2-2 draw in the first leg match played at the Hawassa International Stadium in Ethiopia. This win pits Kenya against the winner of Ghana vs Algeria.
