Temwa, Malawi National Womens Football team and Blantyre Zero striker Temwa Chawinga has joined her sister’s (Tabitha) Sweden side Kvarnsvedens IK on a three months contract. Temwa was with Malawi women’s team in Zimbabwe last week where the team was taking part in Cosafa Women’s Championship, arrived in Sweden together with Tabitha on Wednesday afternoon and joined her new team mates to have her first training session with the team on Thursday.
Speaking from Sweden, the FAM Womens Football League, Donnas Egg and Presidential Womens Football Tournament top goalscorer said she is very excited for joining such a big club.
The 18-year-old player has promised that she will put an extra gear by training hard and listening to what the coaches will be telling her so that she can continue scoring goals as she have been doing in Malawi and become one of the best strikers at the club.
“As you know that I’ve just signed for three months so it will depend on my performance to convince the team and see if they can extend my contract because there is that opportunity. But I will keep on trusting God and am sure I will make it. The good thing is that I have
my sister here who will be giving me some advise on what do during training as well as game time,” said Temwa.
On her part Tabitha said she will try her best to encourage her younger sister to have self confidence.
“Temwa is a good player and I don’t see her failing to withstand the heat because she has all the good qualities of a player. It is my wish and prayer that come November the club will give her another contract,” said Tabitha.
