NIGERIA:GRAPHIC PHOTO-Goalkeeper and Players Left Bloodied by Unruly Bayelsa Queens fans

The goal keeper and players  of Sunshine Queens FC were attacked by the fans of Bayelsa Queens FC on July 19th at Nembe City after the match day 12 NWFL game. Bayelsa won by a lone goal.

Sunshine Queens’ goalkeeper and players were rushed to  a nearby hospital for medical attention.Information gathered thus far indicates that the fans of Bayelsa Ladies FC were hostile from the blast of the referees whistle  at kick-off till the end of proceedings.  The goal keeper , Elizabeth Johnson was allegedly targeted by  the fans of Bayelsa Queens for making incredible  saves  and thus led to the attack after the match. The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) board has condemned in strong terms the barbaric incident and has vowed take punitive action against the culprits.

Another unfortunate incident occurred at  the Atiku Abubakar Stadium in Fufore,where  the hosts, Adamawa Queens and visitors, Osun Babes had the game abandoned  as a result of  a dispute that arose from the second goal credited to the home side.
